All Southwest Virginia's legislators are Republicans
As of Tuesday, all the state representatives in Southwest Virginia (at least in the coverage area of the paper I work for) are Republicans. This is the first time this has happened -- Southwest Virginia, particularly coal country, used to be pretty Democrat-heavy. But in the past 20 or so years, every Democrat who's been voted out of office has been replaced by a Republican, who hasn't been ousted by another Democrat.
